GAA ruling

According to new GAA rules, players are required to wear a mouth guard in order to be able to play. We welcome this decision to reduce the risk of dental and facial injuries and protect young players and adults.

Why is it important to wear a mouth guard?

Mouth guards are an effective means of protecting your teeth and gums from injury when you engage in physical exercise and games that involve a risk of injury to the face or jaw. Sport has a multitude of benefits for the body and mind, but most activities carry a risk of injury and it’s often essential to use protective equipment and wear special clothing to reduce the risk of an early bath.

Mouth guards prevent injuries such as chipped, broken and dislodged teeth, which may be caused by balls flying at high speed, high kicks and tackles, body contact and landing on firm surfaces. We recommend wearing a mouth guard every time you play sport, even if you only participate now and again.

What are the advantages of a dentist-made mouth guard?
