Dental injuries and dental pain

Often, you experience pain when you least expect it; one minute you could be minding your own business, the next you could be in need of urgent dental care. Dental injuries are commonly caused by accidents, such as falls, sporting injuries and trauma and pain can range from mild to severe.

If you suffer an injury or you suddenly experience very severe dental pain, we are here to help!

Types of dental emergencies include chipped, fractured and split teeth, jaw injuries, dental pain and abscesses and dislodged teeth, which is also known as avulsion.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency?

If you’re in pain and you need help, don’t suffer in silence! Call the practice and one of our receptionists will do their best to get you an appointment as quickly as possible. When you come to the practice, we will help to relieve pain and find out the cause of the injury as quickly as possible.

If you have been suffering from tooth pain or sensitivity for a while, it’s a good idea to arrange to see your dentist. Toothache can often be a sign of decay or an infection, which will only get worse over the course of time.

We recommend attending regular dental appointments to reduce the risk of decay, sensitivity, abscesses and gum disease and we advise patients who participate in contact sports to wear a protective mouth guard to prevent dental injuries.
