We at Dublin18 Dental Care are delighted to announce the addition of the latest of innovative technology to our surgery: an Omni-cam Cerec machine. This impressive technology allows us to make crowns on the day, enabling us to carry out the preparation work and fit the crown on the same day with no need for temporary crowns or impressions. This is also possible for inlays, onlays and veneers.
So, what exactly is Cerec?
Cerec is an innovative piece of equipment, which uses the latest technology to design and manufacture bespoke dental restorations in a single day. Traditionally, when you need a new crown or an inlay, you visit your dentist, they may an impression and then you go back two weeks later to have your restoration fitted once it has been sent back from the dental laboratory. With Cerec, the middle man is cut out and we can do everything on-site.
With Cerec, digital photographs of the teeth are converted into detailed 3D models, which are used to design and create your new, custom-made restorations. These models are sent to the milling machine, which fabricates the restoration in a matter of seconds. The restoration is then ready to fit.
What are the benefits of Cerec for me?
We understand that for many patients time is of the essence and Cerec is a really impressive solution for those who have time constraints. With Cerec we are able to design, make and fit a new crown, inlay or onlay in a single treatment session, cutting treatment time from 2 weeks to a single day. This eliminates the need for you to take multiple days off work and also means that there is no need for repeat injections or temporary restorations.
The method for creating restorations is also much simpler and cleaner; there is no need for dental putty impressions and the technology used creates very accurate and detailed images to ensure a perfect fit once the restoration is in place. Cerec also gives dentists and patients more say in the design process.
