Get A Celebrity Smile With Porcelain Veneers For Patients Near Bray

If you’ve ever looked at the photographs from the Oscars or watched a catwalk show, you may have wondered just how everyone has such amazing smiles. The answer, in many cases, is porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers create truly amazing, radiant smiles, so now you can you have a Hollywood style smile too!

About porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are very thin tooth-shaped sheets of porcelain, which are placed over the top of the natural teeth to create a flawless set of pearly whites. You can choose the shade and shape of the veneers and they can help to address common problems, including staining and discolouration, general wear and tear, chipped and worn teeth and spaces between the teeth.

Before treatment, patients undergo a consultation to find out more about veneers and learn about the treatment process. Our friendly dentists are there to answer any questions and allay any fears and they will explain how the treatment works and what you can expect from your new veneers.

Our veneers

We offer a range of veneer treatments, including celebrity favourites, Lumineers and Da Vinci veneers. Many of you will be familiar with these treatments, as they are featured on lifestyle and makeover television shows on a regular basis.

Lumineers and Da Vinci veneers are both very thin, which means that minimal tooth preparation is needed before the veneers are fitted. The veneers are custom-made for the individual and the results are incredible. The process is also very simple; your custom-made veneers are simply placed over the top of your natural teeth to create a perfect new smile and once you are happy with the look of your teeth, they will be cemented into position.

If you’re longing for a celebrity smile and you cannot wait to flash a bright, healthy looking smile, contact us today at Dublin18 Dental Care near Bray to find out about our amazing veneer treatments.

In The News; Children Wait Up To Three Years For Dental Care With The National Health Services In Ireland

If you like to keep abreast of the news or you have a specific interest in health news, you may have seen a recent article about waiting lists for children’s dental care in Ireland. Since the HSE announced significant cuts in the dental budget, the Irish Dental Association has warned that children are missing out on the care they need, with some forced to wait for up to three years for treatment. Dental experts have warned politicians that cutting back now will increase costs in the future, as well as leading to a decline in standards of oral health. At Dublin18 Dental Care we firmly believe that prevention is better than cure and we feel very strongly that children’s oral health should be a priority.

Why is children’s dental health so important?

It’s easy to assume that oral health is not important for children because their first set of teeth are supposed to fall out, but the fact is that oral health is extremely important for children. Problems such as decay, cavities and gum disease cause children unnecessary pain and children with dental problems may experience difficulty at school. If they are in pain, it may be hard for them to concentrate and if they lose teeth early or they have damaged or decayed teeth, this may affect their confidence.

The milk teeth are supposed to fall out, but if they drop out prematurely or they have to be extracted early as a result of decay, this often causes problems in later life, such as poor tooth alignment, which may require orthodontic treatment.

At Dublin18 Dental Care we aim to promote good oral health from an early age and encourage parents and children to visit on a regular basis for a quick check-up. It is helpful for children to get used to going to the dentist as early as possible, not just for their health, but also so that they get used to having regular check-ups.

If you have any questions about your child’s oral health or you would like to find out more about children’s dentistry at Dublin18 Dental Care near Foxrock, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Why Patients Near Stepaside Should Have A Hygiene Appointment

Our hygienists are an important part of the team and we encourage all our patients to see a hygienist on a regular basis. Visiting a hygienist is not just important for patients with existing oral health conditions, it is also a great way of preventing oral health problems and keeping your teeth looking glossy and healthy.

What does a hygienist do?

A dental hygienist plays a very important role in promoting good oral health and encouraging people to adopt good oral hygiene habits. Our hygienists can offer advice about choosing toothbrushes and toothpastes, brushing technique, flossing, giving up smoking and healthy eating and they are always on hand to answer any questions you have.

Hygienists are experts in dental hygiene and they provide a range of dental services, including cleaning treatments, scale and polish, gum disease management and root canal treatment. Hygienists use treatments to remove plaque and tartar deposits, which are impossible to remove by brushing alone and they also advise about preventative dental care.

For younger patients, dental hygienists can offer preventative treatments, including sealant treatment, which helps to protect the teeth against decay.

Why is it important to see a dental hygienist?

Good oral health is really important; neglecting your oral health does not just affect your teeth and gums, it also impacts on your general health. Numerous studies have shown that poor oral health increases the risk of serious medical conditions, including strokes, diabetes and heart disease. Seeing a dental hygienist on a regular basis can help to keep oral and general health problems at bay and will also help to keep your teeth looking healthy and attractive. Innovative Treatment For Missing Teeth For Patients Near Killiney

Tooth loss is a problem for many people, but thankfully, there are some very effective solutions available. One of our most popular treatments for tooth loss is dental implants.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are one of the best examples of modern dentistry; they are a long-term replacement for missing teeth and they help to restore the function of the mouth, as well as creating a really attractive, healthy looking smile.

Dental implants are small, screw-like dental devices, which are placed inside pre-drilled holes in the jaw bone. The implants are designed to integrate into the bone and once they have integrated fully, they can be attached to a single crown, a denture or a dental bridge. The idea is that the implant takes the place of the root of the missing tooth.

Dental implants are versatile in that they can anchor different types of restoration; this means that they can replace any number of missing teeth.

Advantages of dental implants

Dental implants are durable and hard-wearing; they last for many years and represent a long-term investment. The implants look and function like natural teeth once they have integrated and been attached to a new restoration and they give people greater confidence and the ability to eat and speak with ease.

Implants are made from titanium, which does not interfere with the bone tissue or the surrounding teeth and they can help to reduce bone loss.

Dental implants are suitable for a wide range of people, including those that have a single missing tooth, those with a few missing teeth and those who require an entire arch of new teeth. Call us today at Dublin18 Dental Care near Killiney to find out more about how implants could transform your smile!

Cerec Crowns While You Wait For Patients Near Ballsbridge

If you thought you had to wait 2 weeks for a new crown, think again! At Dublin18 Dental Care we have Cerec technology and can offer same-day crowns, saving you time and money.

We are one of few dental practices in Ireland to offer Cerec technology. Cerec allows us to design, fabricate and fit new, bespoke restorations on the same day, meaning that you do not need to worry about making multiple dental visits or wearing a temporary crown.

How does Cerec work?

Cerec technology is amazing! It enables us to eliminate the process of waiting for new restorations and speeds up the treatment process. Cerec technology uses computer software to generate sophisticated 3D images of the mouth, which are used to design the new crown; the instructions are then sent to the milling site and the new restoration is manufactured. It can then be fitted straight away, reducing treatment time by up to 2 weeks.

Cerec is beneficial for patients and dentists; dentists have greater control of the design process and the process is more accurate and patients get the treatment they need very quickly without the need for repeat sessions, temporary restorations or multiple injections.

What else can Cerec do?

Cerec can produce a range of bespoke restorations, including crowns, onlays, inlays and veneers. All the restorations we produce are made from the highest quality materials for durability and excellent aesthetics and they are all custom-made for the individual patient. For more information about our Cerec technology please contact the team at Dublin18 Dental Care near Ballsbridge.

Importance Of Schoolchildren’s Check-Ups For Children Near Dublin18

At Dublin18 Dental Care we believe that prevention is always better than cure and we encourage all our patients, big and small, to come for regular dental check-ups. We treat patients of all ages and we make every effort to ensure that children have a positive experience during their time at the practice. We want children to enjoy coming to the dentist and to learn about the importance of looking after their teeth and gums from an early age.

Dental checks for children

We advise parents to bring their children for regular dental checks from a very early age. Cavities can cause pain, but losing the milk teeth prematurely can also increase the risk of problems further down the line, as the adult teeth are forced to erupt earlier than planned.

We encourage children to brush their teeth twice a day and are happy to advise parents and children about teeth cleaning and choosing oral hygiene products. We try to make teeth cleaning and going to the dentist fun for children and we can recommend tricks and tips for parents to save battling at bedtime. One of the most popular tips is to encourage children to brush along to their favourite song; this is a great idea because most songs are between 2 and 3 minutes, which ensures that children brush for the recommended time.

We find that going to check-ups from an early age benefits children, not just in terms of their oral health, but also in their attitude to going to the dentist. Check-ups allow children to get used to the sights and sounds of the surgery, which can be a little scary at first and children who go to the dentist from an early age are less likely to be anxious about seeing a dentist when they are older.

Diet

As well as encouraging parents to supervise their child brushing their teeth, we also urge parents to keep an eye on their child’s diet. One of the most common problems we see is cavities, which are often caused by eating lots of sweets and chocolates and drinking fizzy pop and sugary juices. We are happy to advise healthy eating programmes and ideas for snacks and main meals at Dublin18 Dental Care in Dublin18.

The great thing about Anti wrinkle injections are that it is a reversible and temporary treatment; you don’t have to commit to long-term treatment or go under the knife and the results are really impressive.

Anti wrinkle injection is injected into the skin to smooth the skin and prevent more wrinkles from forming; it does this by restricting the contraction of the facial muscles. The aim of Anti wrinkle injections are to give a more youthful look, while maintaining a natural aesthetic.

The treatment process for Anti wrinkle injection is very simple; before treatment, we will discuss how the treatment works and explain what happens and talk to you about which areas you want to tackle. We will then inject the Anti wrinkle injection into your face using a fine needle. Treatment takes around 20-40 minutes depending on how many areas are being treated. After treatment there may be very mild swelling, but this will soon die down and you can get straight back to your normal daily routine.
