Back To School Check-Ups For Children Near Ballsbridge

The school holidays are in full swing and what better time to organise your child’s next dental check-up. The summer holidays are the ideal time to schedule a routine check-up for your children, with no need to worry about them missing school or having to organise time off work to take them at short notice.

We recommend 6 monthly check-ups for children from a very early age so that they are able to get used to the sights and sounds of the dental surgery and get to know their dentist. During the check-up, the dentist will have a little chat with the child and answer any questions they have and then examine the child’s mouth.

Why are check-ups so important for children?

Check-ups are important for patients of all ages; they enable dentists to keep tabs on the patient’s oral health and address any problems as early as possible. Decay and gum disease, the most common oral diseases, get worse with time and early intervention can help to stop the progression and prevent pain and the need for further treatment.

Tooth decay is very common in children and regular check-ups enable dentist to spot the early signs of cavities and treat decay before the situation gets worse; this prevents children from suffering sensitivity and toothache and reduces the risk of painful abscesses and dental infections.

Orthodontic problems are also fairly common in children and dentists are able to monitor the development of the teeth and the jaw and suggest an appropriate course of action; often, early treatment is preferable because orthodontic problems get worse with time and it is usually best to intervene when children are still fairly young.

If you would like to book a check-up for your child during the summer holidays, contact out friendly reception team today at Dublin18 Dental Care near Ballsbridge.

Treatments Available For Missing Teeth Near Donnybrook

If you lose a tooth or a number of teeth it is always beneficial to replace them. Missing teeth affect the function of the mouth, as well as the look of the smile and gaps can also cause the remaining teeth to shift out of position. If you have a single missing tooth or a number of missing teeth there are options available to you, including:

Dental bridge

A dental bridge is commonly used to replace a single missing tooth or a small number of missing teeth. A dental bridge is made from a false tooth, which is known as a pontic, and crowns, which hold the false tooth in position. There are three types of dental bridge: a traditional fixed bridge, a cantilever bridge and a Maryland bridge; the most common bridge is the traditional fixed bridge. Bridges can be made from different materials and ceramic bridges are very popular because they match the colour of the teeth.

Dental implants

Dental implants are a really impressive long-term option for patients with missing teeth; they last for many years and they produce amazing aesthetics, as well as first class function. Dental implants are titanium devices, which resemble screws, which are placed into sockets in the jaw bone to replace the tooth root; they can then be attached to a crown, dental bridge or denture, once they have fully integrated into the jaw bone.

Dentures

Dentures are sets of false teeth, which can be used to replace an entire arch of missing teeth (a full or complete denture) or a smaller number of missing teeth (a partial denture). Modern dentures are very lifelike and they are much more comfortable and functional than they used to be. We recommend regular appointments for patients with dentures to check the fit of the denture; ill-fitting dentures affect the function of your mouth and they can also cause irritation and soreness.

The options available to you may depend on the number of teeth you are missing, the location of the missing teeth, your preferences and your budget. Our friendly dentists at Dublin18 Dental Care near Donnybrook will be happy to discuss the different treatments with you and explain how they work and which one would be best for you.

White Fillings for patients near Foxrock Village

Even the most diligent patients may need a filling; fillings are a type of restoration, which are used to fill cavities and prevent further damage to teeth once a cavity has formed. White fillings are very popular because they blend in with the colour of the tooth, which means that they cannot be distinguished from the rest of the tooth. Metal fillings are highly visible when you smile and more and more people are choosing to their metal fillings replaced with more aesthetically pleasing white fillings.

The procedure

Before a filling is placed, the cavity is cleaned thoroughly and your dentist will remove the decayed tissue from the hole. Once the cavity is clean, bonding material is added and the composite filling material is poured into the cavity. It is then set hard using a light beam and then trimmed to ensure that it fits perfectly.

The filling procedure is relatively straight-forward and you should not experience any pain; typically, treatment is complete within 40 minutes.

Advantages of white fillings

White fillings have become very popular because they provide better aesthetics than metal fillings; over the years, the materials have become stronger and they can now be used to fill most cavities. White fillings are also considered to be safer and more environmentally friendly than metal amalgam fillings.

Why would I need a filling?

You may be advised to have a filling if you have a cavity; a cavity is a hole in the tooth. Fillings help to make the teeth stronger and reduce the risk of further damage or injury; they also help to prevent the spread of infection. The Inman Aligner Orthodontic Device For Patients Near Bray

The Inman Aligner is one of the best examples of modern orthodontics; this innovative device takes just a few weeks to straighten the teeth.

What is the Inman Aligner?

The Inman Aligner is a removable orthodontic device, which is designed to treat patients with minor or moderate orthodontic issues, such as mild crowding, slightly crooked front teeth and a small gap between the front teeth. The Inman Aligner is made up of two key parts: a coiled spring and a metal bar; the spring sits at the back of the teeth and the metal bar runs along the front of the teeth. The appliance works by producing forces, which gently squeeze the teeth, pushing and pulling them into the right position.

Who is the Inman aligner for?

The ideal candidate for the Inman Aligner would be a patient with minor or moderate orthodontic problems with their front teeth; the treatment is not designed for patients who have more complex needs, which require more intensive treatment. If you are not a suitable candidate for Inman Aligner treatment we can discuss other options, which will give you a beautiful, straight smile!

How long does treatment take?

The best thing about the Inman Aligner, although it has numerous benefits, is the treatment time; in the majority of cases, treatment is complete within 16 weeks. The exact treatment time varies according to the individual and less complex cases may be complete even quicker.

What are the benefits?

Aside from amazingly quick treatment times, the Inman Aligner also offers convenience, comfort and flexibility, as you can remove it; this also means that you can brush your teeth properly and eat and drink without any worries. The Inman Aligner is also a discreet treatment; although it is not an invisible brace, the metal bar is very fine and much less noticeable than fixed metal braces. If you would like more information about the Inman Aligner get in touch with us at Dublin18 Dental Care near Bray.

Clear Aligners For Discrete Straightening For Patients Near Monkstown

If you’ve ever toyed with the idea of getting braces but been put off by the thought of wearing unsightly fixed braces, invisible aligners may just be the solution you’ve been waiting for! At Dublin18 Dental Care near Monkstown we offer the latest orthodontic treatments, including invisible aligners, which straighten your teeth without anyone else even being able to tell that you’re having treatment.

How do invisible aligners work?

Invisible aligners are designed and fabricated based on your individual treatment plan; each aligner is slightly different and you wear them in a set order to encourage the teeth to move into position gently and gradually. Each aligner is worn for two weeks and then replaced with the next aligner until treatment is complete and you have a gorgeous straight smile.

The aligners are made from transparent plastic, which means that they are virtually invisible to other people; they are also removable, which gives you more freedom than fixed braces.

Invisible aligners are removable but they have to be worn for a minimum of 22 hours per day to ensure optimum results.

What are the advantages and disadvantages?

The most obvious benefit is that the aligners are invisible, so you don’t have to worry about your image while you have treatment. Many people also enjoy the freedom of removable braces, although this can be a disadvantage because the success of treatment is dependent on you wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours per day. Invisible aligners are also very comfortable and they use the latest technology to prevent friction and move the teeth quickly and gently.

If you’re looking for an image-friendly treatment, which will give you a gorgeous, natural looking and healthy smile, contact us today to find out about invisible aligners.

Check-Ups For New Patients Near Blackrock

At Dublin18 Dental Care we firmly believe that prevention is better than cure and we recommend regular dental check-ups. We use a 13-point plan to provide our clients with a thorough dental health check.

Checks for new patients

We look forward to meeting new patients and the first appointment gives us a chance to have a look at your teeth, discuss any needs or preferences you have and record details of your dental and medical history. Before your dentist checks your teeth, they will ask you about your medical history and discuss any dental treatment or problems you have had in the past; they will then examine your mouth and have a close look at your teeth and gums. The check-up is nothing to worry or be scared about; it simply allows your dentist to have a look in your mouth, check for any changes to your oral health and identify any symptoms or potential warning signs that may need addressing.

What happens during a dental check?

We use a 13-point plan for all our patients, which includes mouth cancer screening, checking the salivary glands and the tongue, looking for signs of decay and gum disease, checking the arrangement and alignment of the teeth and looking at the jaw joint. We will also discuss any issues, which may be relevant, such as oral hygiene, tackling problems that you may bring up, such as tooth discolouration or bad breath. If you need treatment following your check-up, this will be arranged by the reception team; if you don’t need any treatment, you will be advised to return for your next routine check-up 6 months later.

Why are check-ups so important?

Check-ups are important because they reduce the risk of dental diseases and ensure that you have strong, healthy teeth and gums and that you are free from pain, sensitivity and inflammation. Check-ups are our way of ensuring that any problems are detected and treated as early as possible, which saves you pain, as well as money. A check-up is very quick and it is also painless, but it really can make the world of difference to your oral health.
