Cerec Crowns On The Day For Patients Near Donnybrook

Cerec is an advanced form of technology, which enables us to create bespoke new restorations on-site; this means that you can enjoy brand new restorations in just one day.

What is Cerec?

Cerec technology enables us to design, create and fit bespoke restorations on the same day; usually, if you need a crown, two sessions are required, which are usually 2 weeks apart. The dentist creates an impression of the tooth using dental putty and this is sent away to the laboratory and returned around 2 weeks later, when it can be fitted.

With Cerec, the processes of designing, making and fitting the new crown can all be done on the same day.

Your Dublin18 dentist will take a photograph of your tooth, which will be transformed into a detailed 3D image using sophisticated computer software. This image is used to create a design of the crown and this is sent to the on-site milling machine. It takes just minutes to create a new crown and it can then be fitted.

What are the benefits of Cerec crowns?

The most obvious benefit is that everything an be done in a single appointment on one day, which means that you spend less time in the dental chair and you only need one injection of local anaesthetic. The process is much quicker and it is also more accurate; dentists also have more say in the design of the new restoration.

Why would I need a crown?

You may need a crown if you have a tooth that has been weakened by decay, infection or as a result of injury. Crowns help to make the teeth stronger and protect the tooth from further damage. They are placed over the top of the tooth and are sometimes known as caps for this reason. For more information about crown treatment get in touch with the team at Dublin18 Dental Care near Donnybrook.

We Have An Amazing Dental Implants Offer For Patients in Deansgrange

We are proud to offer our clients the latest cosmetic and restorative dental treatments on the market and one of most exciting treatments is dental implants. If you have a missing tooth or a number of missing teeth, dental implants could be the perfect solution.

About dental implants

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth; they are suitable for most patients and provide the most long-term option for those looking for tooth replacement treatments.

Implants are small posts, which are made from titanium; they are screwed into small sockets in the jaw bone and then left to integrate in a process that is known as osseointegration. The aim of implant treatment is to replace the root of the missing tooth.

Once the implant has integrated into the jaw bone, a new restoration, including a crown, dental bridge or denture, can be attached and the new teeth will function in the same way as natural teeth.

Before implants are fitted, X-rays (or a CT scan) will be ordered to assess the suitability of dental implant treatment.

In addition to traditional dental implants, we also offer implant-retained dentures; these are dentures that are held firmly in place by implants. Implant-retained dentures provide a solution for many of the issues that can occur when wearing dentures; as the denture is secured by the implants, there is no risk of the denture slipping, which reduces the risk of pain and irritation and enables patients to eat a wide range of foods without any worries.

How much do dental implants cost?

We offer dental implants for €2,800.

Dental Dietary Advice For The New Year For Patients Near Dalkey

Now that Christmas is over, you may be feeling like you’ve overindulged slightly and this may have prompted some resolutions for a healthy new you in 2014. The good news is that eating healthily will not just help you to lose a few Christmas pounds, it will also help to boost your oral health and ensure that you enjoy strong and healthy teeth and gums in the year ahead.

Dental dos: the foods to add to your shopping list in the New Year

You often hear all about the foods you should be avoiding when it comes to oral health, but there are many items you can pop on your weekly shopping list to help boost your oral health.

Calcium is really important for your teeth and bones and it is advisable to ensure you get your recommended daily intake; good sources of calcium include milk, yoghurt and cheese, but if you are dairy intolerant, there are other foods you can eat to get your daily calcium dose and these include tofu, soya beans, leafy green vegetables, nuts and sardines.

Vitamin C is important for the immune system and good general health and helps to lower the risk of gum disease, as well as promoting speedy healing. Good sources of vitamin C include berries and citrus fruits, leafy green vegetables, potatoes, peppers and broccoli.

Foods to avoid

Unfortunately, many of the festive favourites, such as mine pies, Christmas pudding and sugared almonds, are high in sugar and this is bad news for the teeth and gums. In the New Year, try to restrict the amount of sugar you eat and stick to complex carbohydrates and fruit and vegetables, rather than indulging in cakes and biscuits.

Acidic foods and drinks can also be troublesome, as they erode the protective tooth enamel; try to avoid drinking a lot of fruit juice and wine and using vinegar-based dressings on salad.

Eating habits

Snacking can be a major problem for oral health; when you eat, the enamel becomes weaker temporarily and if you are snacking throughout the day, this means that your enamel is under constant attack. Try to stick to three meals per day and if you do fancy a snack, go for fibre-rich fruit or vegetables, a wholegrain piece of toast or crackers or a piece of cheese. It is a good idea to drink milk or water after eating and you should always wait around 1 hour after eating to brush your teeth. The Importance Of Hygiene Visits For Both Adults And Children At Our Dental Clinic In Deansgrange

We pride ourselves on promoting good oral health and helping our clients to achieve healthy, beautiful smiles and we are delighted to offer a range of hygiene services. Our expert dental hygienists are an integral part of the Dublin18 team and we encourage adults and children to attend regular hygienist appointments to boost oral health and keep gum disease and cavities at bay.

What do hygienists do and how could I benefit from hygiene sessions?

Dental hygienists are experts in oral hygiene; they are trained to provide a range of hygiene services, including cleaning treatments and fresh breath treatment, as well as preventative services, such as sealant treatment and fluoride varnish, and advice about oral hygiene, healthy eating and oral health and quitting smoking.

Seeing a hygienist has many benefits; cleaning treatments help to remove bacteria and plaque from the mouth, which lowers the risk of gum disease, bad breath and decay and removes surface stains, giving the teeth a lovely, healthy sheen.

The mouth is often considered as a window to the body and numerous studies have now established a link between oral and general health; regular hygiene sessions reduce the risk of gum disease, which in turn, lowers the risk of serious illnesses, including heart disease and strokes.

Children can benefit from seeing a hygienist for preventative treatments, which help to protect the teeth from cavities.

How much do hygiene treatment sessions cost?

A 20 minute session with a dental hygienist costs €50 and a 30 minute session costs €68.

Anti Wrinkle Injection Treatment For Patients Near Foxrock

Anti wrinkle injection is a very popular anti-ageing treatment, which helps to target wrinkles and give your complexion a smooth and youthful finish. To celebrate the New Year we are now offering three areas of treatment for just €350 near Foxrock.

What is Anti wrinkle injection and how does it work?

Anti wrinkle injection is a toxin, which is injected into the skin to reduce the visibility of lines and wrinkles. Although Anti wrinkle injection is a toxin, it is used in extremely small quantities and is considered a safe treatment, which has major benefits for those looking to turn back the clock.

Anti wrinkle injection makes wrinkles and lines less visible by restricting the contraction of the muscles in the face. It is particularly popular for treating crow’s feet, laughter lines and wrinkles around the eyes, nose and mouth.

What does treatment involve and how long does it take?

Anti wrinkle injection treatment involves a series of injections into targeted areas of the skin; a fine needle is used to inject Anti wrinkle injections into the areas of the face you wish to address. The injections are painless and usually treatment is complete within half an hour. There is no need to take time off to recover after Anti wrinkle injection treatment and you will not experience pain after treatment.

The results of Anti wrinkle injection treatment last between 4 and 6 months; after this point, it is possible to top up the treatment if you would like to prolong the results of your treatment.

Is Anti wrinkle injection for me?
